  on another note, i just finished reading Stephen Kings novel 11.22.63, about a guy who goes back in time to stop it. Fascinating fiction.

  Governing body member engaged... Again!

  just found out that the australian governong body member known as geoffrey jackson got engaged to a sister about two weeks ago.

  it really shocked me at first but then i remembered how other members of the gb have remarried in the past like daniel sidlik.

  what made me say "woah" was hearing that the holy bride to be is really young!

  At the end of the day, regardless of ages and whatever floats boats, the hoo har really is about why 1/8th of the Faithful slave desires to take a wife in the first place considering the very very very near at the door i can hear it breathing armageddon?

  I would hope that at least a few get stumbled out by this.

  I guess he just can't resist the desires incidental to youth advancing years...

  Looking to speak to current & ex-JWs in Australia

  hope you don't mind me posting.

  i'm a freelance writer, and am currently writing a story on the jehovah's witnesses church for a melbourne magazine.

  i've spoken with an elder/spokesperson of a melbourne jw church, who explained the official positions of the church at length, but i'm really interested in getting more of a sense of the day to day experiences of jws, both current and former.

  Thay are a dangerous bunch, mark our words.

  i just rescued two teenagers form them recently

  Curious as to what angle you plan to take with the article.

  there are so many angles that you could write several books let alone a magazine article.

  Personally the best article will be one that alerts the public to just how much mind control they practice and to the Candace conti case in the U.S.

  stick to cold hard facts.

  sorry, i dont mean to tell you how to do your job! I just hate seeing them portrayed as just a slightly annoying alternative to mainstream christianity... they are down right dangerous. Dont be fooled by any spin doctor from them.

  1914 - It was the end of the world as we knew it - things got much better!

  i was having a conversation with a jw relative recently i casually mentioned how much better the world is than a few centuries.

  obviously the jw was incredulous.

  the next day i found an email in my inbox listing a few qoutes from notable people saying how the world has gotten much worse since 1914 and that 1914 was a pivitol year.

  challenge them to answer yours one at a time.

  ask for facts to back up their statements.

  Baptismal Questions CHANGE AGAIN!

  i attended recently a circuit assembly and notice a change in the wording of the 2nd baptismal question .it used to be :.

  "do you understand that your dedication and baptism identify you as one of jehovah's witnesses in association with god's spirit-directed organization?

  now they changed it to :.

  another degree of distance between the WTBTS and the rank and file?

  when a JW hits the news for all the wrong reasons, the WTBTS can say ''oh, he/she is only an associate of an association...we are not even an organization''.

  If this is true (and I think it will be confirmed) it has legal department stamped all over it. technicalities of words at play here.

  They will be the greatest happyness you have ever known and the greatest pain you will experience.

  they will make you proud and they will reduce you to a worried mess

  they will turn your world upside down and you will be glad and annoyed at the same time.

  They can make a great relationship better and destroy a bad relationship.

  Some people who have kids shouldn't and some who can't should.

  And all the advice and information from others wont help you a bit, you have to try it find out....

  Can a JWs Elder be "removed" if his wife is known as the congregation "gossip"?

  i remember in my kingdom hall one of our 5 elders bro.

  "smith" had a gossipy wife sis "smith" who would be known to gossip from the time she enter the hall until she left.

  i don't know how she never was reproved or counseled for her gossiping.

  well that all depends on what the gossip is doesn't it?

  If it's about who is having a fight with who or made up shit then probably not.

  But if the wife tells the truth about pedaphiles in the hall you can bet he will be...

  Even though they have been rather more accomodating than western elder bodies, the result will be the same.

  They want to silence you. Brooklyn will have told them to silence you or DF. They get the same directives as all the others, just find it culturely harder to apply perhaps.

  You stop what you are doing, they win, keep going and you will be disfellowshipped. Rest assured, they do not think you have a point. They will not agree with you and at the final jump will DF you for disobeying the Governing Body F&DS.

  Sad and funny how they had to add somes sexual preference,

  more funny was the ''involved in a scam''...oh my, if only they knew how many 'ggod' JWs are involved in get rich quick scams!
